How long are sessions?

The initial session at Reconnect Centre is typically a 90-minute extended appointment*. This format provides space for deeper exploration of your concerns, emotional patterns, and goals, while beginning to lay the foundation for meaningful work.

The session is offered at a reduced rate to reflect both its extended length and the value of starting with a more in-depth understanding. Many clients find that this format allows them to gain insight and clarity right from the first session.

Ongoing sessions are typically 50-minutes in length. While frequency can be discussed based on your needs, we generally find that fortnightly sessions work well for most clients, offering enough time between sessions for reflection and integration, while maintaining consistency and therapeutic momentum.

*A 50-minute initial session may also be available upon request.

Can I contact my practitioner between sessions?

Clients are welcome to call or email the Reconnect Centre between sessions for administrative matters such as rescheduling or confirming appointment details. Please note that therapeutic support is generally provided during scheduled appointments only. Reconnect Centre is not a crisis service – if you need immediate support, please contact your GP or emergency services.

What if I need an earlier appointment?

We understand that circumstances can change. If you feel you need to be seen sooner than your scheduled session, please get in touch. While we can’t guarantee immediate availability, we’ll do our best to accommodate you or offer alternative support options if needed.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No referral is required to book a session at Reconnect Centre. However, if you’re eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) or other referral-based rebates, you may choose to speak with your GP before attending.

Can I claim a Medicare rebate?

Reconnect Centre offers services that may be eligible for Medicare rebates if you have a current referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. Please check with the Centre about the rebate options available for your sessions.

Can I get a rebate from Medicare as well as my private health fund?

Unfortunately, you cannot claim both a Medicare rebate as well as private health at the same time – it must be one or the other. You can however, opt to use your private health cover if you have exhausted your Medicare rebate for psychology or you may wish to use it in lieu of a Medicare rebate.

When is payment taken?

Session fees are processed on the morning of your appointment. Your Medicare rebate (if eligible) is applied after your session. For full details, please see our Fees & Rebates page.

Do you accept NDIS clients?

Yes, Reconnect Centre supports both self-managed and plan-managed NDIS clients. We do not accept NDIA-managed clients at this time. For self-managed participants, sessions fees are paid directly by you, and you can then claim reimbursement from your NDIS funds. For plan-managed participants, invoices are sent directly to your plan manager.

You'll be asked to provide your NDIS plan, NDIS number, and plan start and end dates during the booking process.

Do you accept WorkSafe (WorkCover) referrals?

Yes, Reconnect Centre accepts referrals under WorkSafe. Sessions are billed directly through WorkSafe once the appropriate referral and approval documentation has been provided by your GP or treating specialist.

What is the cancellation policy?

Reconnect Centre requires at least 48-hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Changes made with less than 48-hours' notice will incur a 50% fee, and missed appointments are charged in full. These fees are not Medicare rebatable. You can read the full cancellation policy on our Fees & Rebates page.
